I haven’t been playing poker for long and have found the game confusing at times. This book is geared more toward beginners, which is perfect for me since that is what I am. Ryan takes the time to explain the game in simple forms before going into stragies for the game. The most important thing he points out is that you play the other players not the cards, and learning how to read others. I feel more confident about my game now and have already putting some tips to practice with great results.

I am relatively new to poker and I’ve tried reading various books to improve my game. I have tried using the strategies in this book and they have been effective. Poker is a tactical game and the cards are not as important as you might think. I really enjoyed how he explored the Mathematics in poker. This guide will be helpful to anyone wanting to improve his poker skills.

This book is absolutely horrid. First, it’s a complete beginners guide to Hold’em, and as such contains poor advice for novice players. While the book talks at length about how important the math is, the actual mathematics is mostly missing, save some unexplained charts at the very back of the book which came from yet another author’s book! I’d say buy that book rather than this one. Pass on this book, it’s a real dud.
